Whether you’re a man or a woman, online dating comes with some risks. With only a few pictures to go off of, it’s not always easy to differentiate the good guys from the creeps. But it becomes pretty clear once you’re trapped on a date with them. Well, now you can get out of it safely, IF your date is at this pub in England, that is.
The Brickyard outside of London is taking steps to ensure the happiness and safety of all of their dating patrons, starting with this sign in the women’s restroom.
“Tinder date gone wrong?” it reads. “Doesn’t look like his picture, or just plain weird? If you’re on an date and it’s not going well, come to the bar and ask for Rachelle or Jennifer and we’ll get you out of it and/or get you a taxi. Your safety and happiness is our highest priority. If anyone is bothering you or making you feel uncomfortable please tell us. We will discreetly move them away, and if necessary ask them to leave. The Brickyard is safe and fun, we want you to enjoy your time here. Talk to us and we’ll sort it out. :)”
Hallelujah. It’s a dating miracle. No more hiding in the bathroom, dreading your return to the table. No more texting a friend to “call you with an emergency.” The Brickyard staff has got your back.
If you’re concerned about male patrons of the Brickyard, as well, don’t worry. “In light of the extent of the feedback received,” the staff explained, “we have plans in place already to launch a similar safety campaign for men.”
Perfect! Now, we just need to get this system to come across the pond.
