Police in Nebraska, United States are searching for a 24-year-old woman who hasn’t been seen since she went on a date with a woman she met online.
24-year-old Sydney Loofe had reportedly met the woman on an online dating site, and went out for a date with her on Tuesday last week. The date went well, and Sydney texted her friend Terra Gehrig the following morning (Wednesday 15 November) to say the pair were planning to go out again that night, the Omaha World Herald reports.
But when Sydney failed to turn up to work on Thursday morning last week, alarm bells were raised. Police now fear the young woman may have come to some harm.
“The circumstances surrounding [Loofe’s] disappearance are concerning,” Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister said in a statement.
The night before Sydney went missing, she posted a selfie on Snapchat where she can be seen wearing a white coat along with a cream shirt. She captioned the picture, which was sent to her friends, “Ready for my date”.
Sydney’s mobile phone was traced following an initial analysis by police, however it has since been turned off, signalling more concern for her family and friends.
“She was planning on coming home that night,” Sydney’s mum, Susie Loofe, told the Lincoln Journal-Star. The young woman’s father, George, is equally as devastated about her disappearance. “Tell her we love her, and we’re waiting for her to come home,” he said.
