Michael Herd, a scion of an independent oil and gas company in Texas who’s married to Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder of social and dating app Bumble and co-founder of Tinder, is selling his sprawling family compound in Austin, Texas, for $28.5 million.

The nearly 6.5-acre, double-gated estate has five structures, including a private main residence, a guest house and a cabana dedicated to entertainment.

The 5,000-square-foot cabana, which has a putting green, tennis courts, a pool with spa, a movie theater and other amenities, has entertained guests around the world. “It’s always a crowd pleaser,” Mr. Herd said.

Mr. Herd, 32, and his grandfather, Bob L. Herd, who died in December at age 91, spent more than eight years expanding the property to such a magnitude, he said. They also redesigned the main residence, built in 2008, last August, adding all the modern luxury amenities.

“It’s very difficult to find and develop a large property on Lake Austin,” Mr. Herd said. “Our compound is truly one-of-a-kind.”

Other amenities on the property include 10 garages, ample boat docks, a wine room, a gym, and a helipad.

“A very unique thing to do is to fly my helicopter from the front yard to watch Formula 1 [auto racing], which has been taking place in Austin in the past five years,” Mr. Herd said.

In total, the property offers 19,698 square feet of living space with 12 bedrooms, 12 full bathrooms and three half baths, said listing agent Bridget Ramey of Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty, who began marketing this property about two weeks ago.

Completely redone last August, the main residence has a master wing with every room overlooking Lake Austin, according to Ms. Ramey. The master bathroom features floor-to-ceiling marble imported from Italy.

The three-story guest house has three master suites, each with its own bathroom, private terrace and living space; two-bedroom staff quarters with a kitchen; and a two-story library featuring a fireplace and a wet bar.

“The custom hand-crafted, mahogany library is jaw-dropping,” Ms. Ramey said. “It took three carpenters six months just to build the library.”
