HAMBURG TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a woman and her daughter who went missing under mysterious circumstances.
Amanda Elizabeth Hayward, 30, of Hamburg Township, was last seen leaving her home in the area of Chilson and Bishop Lake roads earlier Monday morning. She was with her 7-year-old daughter, Sapphire Elizabeth Palmer.
They were last seen in a black 2001 Chevrolet Prizm bearing Michigan license plate of CC86371.
Hayward’s Prizm was found Wednesday evening at an apartment complex in Ypsilanti. Family members said Hayward used to live in Ypsilanti and that she has still has friends there.
Hayward was due in court this week to testify against an ex-boyfriend who is accused of beating her. She never made it to the court date.
Purse found along road
Amanda Hayward’s purse was found on the side of the road several miles from her residence hours after their disappearance.
The purse contained credit cards and cash.
Paranoia and deteriorated mental health
Amanda Hayward had been recently suffering from paranoia and her mental health had severely deteriorated over the last two weeks, according to her father, Darryl Hayward.
“She woke me up and pounded on stuff,” Darryl Hayward said. “She was thinking that someone was watching her or listening.”
At one point, Amanda Hayward dumped electronics and toys in the bathtub to destroy the cameras and microphones she believed were watching her.
“I just want them back home safe,” Darryl Hayward said.
Amanda Hayward is described as white, 30 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 140 pounds, and has long strawberry blonde hairs and blue eyes.
Sapphire Palmer is described as white, 7 years old, 4 feet tall, weighs 55 pounds, and has long red hair and green eyes.
