It’s your time to shine! A casting company in Ottawa is currently looking for a background actor to feature in an upcoming Christmas movie. Gather your headshots and dig out your jingle bells for this festive opportunity.

According to a recent post from Smyth Casting, the company is hiring for “background opportunities on the set of Once Upon a Christmas.”

The opportunity is open to Ontario residents only who are fully available for the entire day of the project.

Due to the current circumstances, actors are required to get tested for COVID-19 within two to 10 days of their shooting dates that take place in early August.

“An additional $30 will be paid out to each performer for this inconvenience,” Smyth Casting writes.

The posting asks for one male, aged 25 or over, with ethnicity preferred to play a partygoer for an overnight shoot on August 4.

Applicants can email booking@smythcasting.com with the following information: name, age, phone number, email, residency, union status, and a recent photo.

Also on Smyth Casting’s Facebook page is a call for a photo double to be featured in the same Christmas film.

Similar requirements go for the application process, however, the company is looking for a very specific actor to fill the role of “Jimmy Photo Double in Santa Costume”.

In order the apply, the male must be approximately 5’8″ tall and look like the actor in the attached photo.

There is already one movie out under the same title, Once Upon A Christmas, so this could potentially be a remake though no details are offered.

According to IMDb, the 2000 film follows “Santa [who] is discouraged by a lack of Christmas spirit and wants to quit, but his daughter, Kristin, begs for one more chance to prove to him that there is hope for the world.”

If you don’t fulfill the requirements for this holiday film, there are also two more opportunities to get your fifteen minutes of fame.

Submissions just opened for Canadians to be featured in a Sundance Film Festival movieLife in a Day. The documentary will premiere in 2021 and follows the human experiences of individuals told through the eyes of their cameras.

You can also get paid $400 to share your Tinder nightmare stories for CBC Gem’s True Dating Stories which brings outrageous dating experiences to life.
