Couple who met across their balconies during strict lockdown announce engagement | #tinder | #pof

NOW THAT’S what we call a love story.

While thousands of single people were half-heartedly swiping on Tinder during the height of the lockdown, one couple were meeting and falling in love face-to-face.

When the city of Verona went into lockdown, Paola Agnelli and Michele D’Alpaos started an utterly unique long-distance relationship– despite living just a few feet from each other.

The pair spotted each other during a community balcony concert, as was popular at the height of the restrictions which did not allow people to leave their houses, and instantly lovestruck Michele managed to find Paola’s Instagram account.

The now-betrothed couple struck up a conversation and feel for each other, speaking on the app constantly until restrictions were lifted and they could begin dating properly.

Now, just a few months later, the couple are set to become husband and wife, with Michele telling The Times: “We are absolutely getting married, and all we have to do is set the date”.

“We are considering a ceremony on the large roof terrace of my building, which would make sense since we met on our balconies.”

The loved-up pair made headlines back in March when Michele famously made a huge banner bearing Paola’s name and hung it from his balcony in a bid to express his feelings.

As the story spread on social media, Paola and Michele became known as the ‘Romeo and Juliet of Coronavirus Lockdown’– certainly an interesting ‘how we met’ story to tell at the wedding!
