M&C Saatchi says that trading in the first four months of the year has been stronger than expected and that full-year results are likely to be ahead of expectations.

In a trading update the advertising group said it had enjoyed a “robust” performance in winning new clients, including the first online campaign for the national UK census as well as marketing work for Tinder, the dating app, in southeast Asia. The statement helped to send its shares up by 15½p, or 12 per cent, to 143½p.

The advertising and marketing services group said it had become the creative partner for Origin, an Australian energy company, and had secured briefs from Lexus, the car marque, Reckitt Benckiser, the consumer goods group, Sonos, the audio business,
