Dating-app Bumble has rolled out two new features to make dating while social distancing easier. Firstly, it has increased the range in which people can find their respective matches. Now Bumble users can explore for matches anywhere in their respective countries. Bumble announced that it is now expanding its “distance filters” to match with anyone in the country.
To change location settings, users can go to the app settings and click on nationwide.
Previously, the app only allowed people to connect in a 100-mile range, that is a little over than a 100 kilometers.
The main purpose of the 100-mile range was the physical proximity. But now, with the lockdowns being imposed all over the world, physical proximity related to the app does not really matter. What matters is that users of the app find their connections to get through these difficult times.
And so anyone using the app can find a match anywhere in his own country.
Other features that Bumble came up with are video calls, voice calls and sending text messages.
Also, the dating-app added to its new set of features is the “virtual dating” badge. Now, whoever enables the virtual dating badge to their profile, is giving out the message that they are open to virtually dating the person who video calls them.
Bumble says that it will add $1 to the WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Fund for every person who adds the virtual badge to his/her profile. It will contribute up to $10,000 dollar as per a report by The Verge.
Bumble users have the advantage of voice calls or video calls which are built-in to the app.
Many dating sites are upping their game to kill the social distancing blues.
Hinge launched a feature called “Date from Home”. The feature was rolled out to make it easier for the users to voice call or video call whoever they are talking to. It has launched a button of sorts which notifies a person if their matc wants to video call. If both parties agree, they can go in for a call.
Earlier this month, Tinder made its Passport feature for all users.
The Passport feature is available for Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold users. But in the backdrop of global lockdowns, the app has made the feature accessible for all single people. It can be accessed for free till April 30.
The app intends to bring some sort of relief for singles staying in isolation as it can be accessed to get in touch with anyone, anywhere in the world.
