The state of California is known for producing high-profile quarterbacks at the college and NFL level, but that’s not the only position that coaches repeatedly mine the Golden State for.
Speed is another attribute often found up and down the left coast.
Recent NFL Drafts have shown a direct correlation between getting drafted and performing in track and field in high school. For example, of the 32 first-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, 21 of those — or 66 percent — participated in track and field in high school. Twenty-seven of the 32 first-round picks competed in multiple sports in high school.
Below, we have constructed a list of what we consider some of the Golden State’s 10 fastest recruits in the class of 2022. Please note that there’s only so many data points readily available as not every FBS recruit runs track or participates in offseason camps. That means there might be some speedsters out there that we don’t know about heading into the summer months. The goal, however, is to discover them by the time the Early Signing Period rolls around.
