The man who murdered the British backpacker Grace Millane has lost his appeal against his conviction and prison sentence.
Ms Millane was strangled in a hotel room in Auckland on December 1, 2018 — the day before her 22nd birthday — after a Tinder date.
In February last year the 28-year-old man was sentenced to at least 17 years in prison for her murder. He appealed to the New Zealand Court of Appeal in August but it ruled against him today. A court order banning his identification remains in place.
