MANILA, Philippines — Seventeen Chinese were arrested in a raid on a cybersex den in Jaro district in Iloilo City yesterday.
Operatives of the Iloilo City police intelligence unit, Western Visayas anti-cybercrime unit and Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center swooped down on a rented house in Barangay Balantang at around 4:10 a.m.
Twenty-eight computer systems, two 24-port switch hubs, two routers, four computers, a projector, a monitor, two system units, 49 cell phones and other electronic devices were reportedly seized from the suspects.
Police are withholding the identities of the suspects while an investigation is ongoing.
Col. Joeresty Coronica, Iloilo City police chief, said the group could also be engaged in online dating and romance scams as well as identity theft and fraud.
Probers are looking into the involvement of the other compatriots of the suspects who eluded arrest.
