MANILA, Philippines — Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in a love scam.

Authorities identified the person as Kenchy Suico, 26 years old.

He allegedly operated a syndicate at Barangay Pulong Saging in Silang, Cavite.

Suico was arrested based on a complaint filed by his alleged victim, 27-year-old Rayner Sasoy.

Sasoy had asked the help of Silang Municipal Police through SMS hotline and Facebook Messenger on July 12.

The victim charged Suico with illegal detention.

This prompted the operation against the suspect.

During the event, authorities were able to rescue Sasoy.

It was learned that Sasoy had been reportedly padlocked in the premises of Suico.

Police explained that in the so-called love scam, swindlers take advantage of people who are looking for romantic partners.

They play on the victim’s emotional weaknesses.

The victim provides money and gifts to the criminal.

The suspect is facing a case of serious illegal detention at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Imus City.

During the time of arrest, 14 other individuals were in the same compound, working on computers.

Aside from arresting Suico, operatives also seized over a hundred pieces of electronic devices such as computers and cellphones.
