A man linked to dating app scams has been charged with kidnapping an elderly Franklin woman | #datingscams | #lovescams

Charges have been filed against Timothy Olson, the man police say used dating apps to meet women and steal from them, that link him to an alleged kidnapping of a 79-year-old Franklin woman.

Olson of Kenosha is facing five total charges: felony kidnapping, two felony charges of burglary, one felony charge of using personal identifying information and one charge of misdemeanor obstruction, according to a criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County Circuit Court.

During his initial court appearance Dec. 4, the court found probable cause to hold Olson for further proceedings. He was ordered to not visit any establishment that serves alcohol, nor any dating websites, and avoid contact with three unnamed people.

He was turned over to Justice Point, a non-profit social justice organization in Milwaukee, for level five supervision, according to online court records.

Olson will make his next court appearance on Dec. 14 for a preliminary hearing.

According to the complaint:

On Nov. 24, an elderly woman was seen near South 108th Street and West Beloit Road waving her hands frantically inside a white Honda Accord with its flashers on saying she’d been abducted. Someone called 911 and she told Greenfield Police a man took her phone and credit cards.

Franklin Police Chief Rick Oliva later identified the woman as a 79-year-old Franklin resident.

Police determined she’d been kidnapped from the Casa Di Giorgio restaurant at 3137 W. Rawson Ave. in Franklin. The woman told Franklin Police she’d met a man, later identified as Olson, there in the afternoon, Nov. 23, and he got into the passenger side of her car telling her, “I have a gun, drive.”

She and Olson took turns driving, the victim said. Olson said he needed money for alcohol, asked for pain medication and used the woman’s cell phone to call a drug dealer whom he later met.

It was after Olson got out of the car at a strip mall in Greenfield the woman was able to flag down help.

Franklin Police took Olson into custody in the 7000 block of South 35th Street on Nov. 29, Oliva said. Police found the woman’s credit card in his possession.

In addition to the kidnapping allegations, Olson was a person of interest in two separate deaths at the time he was apprehended. Police also determined there were multiple residential burglaries in the area where Olson was arrested.

Other allegations

Olson had a warrant from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department for five counts of felony identity theft. He is also a person of interest in connection with the death of Kim Mikulance, a 55-year-old Cudahy woman.

Racine Police said Olson is linked to three women, including Mikulance, who fell unconscious in his presence at a bar.

Anyone who has been victimized in a similar fashion or someone with more information on these incidents is encouraged to contact ATF Task Force Officer Detective Contreras of the Racine Police Department Investigations Unit at (414)378-6734 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (262) 636-9330.
