CLEVELAND, Ohio — Najeeb Khan loved classic cars. He bought more than 250 of them, including hockey great Wayne Gretzky’s 2006 Ford GT Heritage, an Aston Martin DB-5, the model that James Bond made famous, and a 1920 Locomobile featured in the movie “Chaplin” with actor Robert Downey Jr.
Khan amassed the multimillion-dollar collection by carrying out an illegal high-stakes shell game with his payroll-processing business, shuffling large sums of money from account to account to make it appear that he had more than he did.
