Suffolk police has been made aware of the crypto investment scheme after a man in Felixstowe lost thousands of pounds.
The incident was reported to Action Fraud.
A spokesperson for Felixstowe and Woodbridge police said: “A recent investigation involves a dating scam where contact is made via Tinder and Whats App.
“The victim is befriended before money is requested for Crytocurrency. The victim is encouraged to send money via a Trust Wallet. The money is then moved out of the Trust Wallet into and unknown account.”
Anyone who believes they may have been defrauded should contact Action Fraud in the first instance via their website, or by calling 0300 123 2040.
