An iconic Glasgow city centre kilt shop is going global – with fittings planned in New York and Toronto later this year.
MacGregor and MacDuff’s international kilt fitting services are back this September and October, which will once again see them host their sell-out service across the pond.
The international kilt fitting services are seen as a great way for Scottish expats and people with Scottish heritage to not only enjoy a traditional kilt shop experience but also to gain access to high-quality, made-in-Scotland highlandwear.

MacGregor and MacDuff’s Head of Marketing, Monique McPhie said: “To say we are excited about our international kilt fittings would be an understatement. We can’t wait to see our friends in New York and make new ones in Toronto. With all of the delays over the last few years, it feels amazing to finally be able to take tartan to the world once again.”
The Glasgow kiltmaker, which was established in 1979, held its first ever international kilt fitting service in September 2019 when they travelled across the pond to set up shop in the heart of Manhattan.
While there, they were able to meet many New Yorkers who were all passionate about highlandwear and received a traditional kilt fitting experience without having to travel all the way to Scotland.
During their New York visit this year they will be measuring a father and son at the same time – with the son being measured in New York and his father in their Bath Street store in Glasgow. MacGregor and MacDuff have coordinated each of their appointments so they can share their kilt fitting visit together over a video call.
MacGregor and MacDuff will be in New York City from Wednesday the 5th to Sunday the 9th of October.
The Big Apple is actually their second stop as they will be visiting Toronto the week before, from Wednesday the 28th of September to Sunday the 2nd of October. The decision to visit Toronto has come highly requested by their Canadian customers.

The fitting services are run in the same manner as their domestic pop-ups in London and Manchester, with their experienced stylists walking customers through every element of the highlandwear outfit, from what sporran is most appropriate for an event to the 4,000 tartan options available.
After outfit decisions have been made and measurements taken, the order details will be sent back to their Head Office in Glasgow so the expert Kiltmakers can get to work.
When everything has been made in Scotland, the order will go through a final quality check to make sure every item is perfect before being boxed up to travel across the Atlantic.
