South Africa has no shortage of dating apps, including Grindr and Tinder.
If you’re looking for a casual hookup, services like Tinder and Grindr are available for South Africans. But what about South Africa’s lesbian population – are they covered by services like Grindr, or is the app only meant for male dating?

According to the website OfLikeMinds, the Grindr dating app isn’t as friendly for lesbian hookups or dating as you would expect.
The service was started in 2009, and the app looks to create casual hookups by-area.
The app focuses on “gay, bi, trans, and queer” hookups, but not lesbians. According to OfLikeMinds, the website and app platform is mostly focused on men looking for dates.

Unfortunately, a South African student was kidnapped after being snared by scammers on the popular dating app this year. Safe dating rules still count!
Tinder was launched in 2012, aimed at heterosexual hookups.
Yes, South Africans can try both Grindr and Tinder: but it’s more popular for men.

“Swipe right” and “swipe left” to rate someone’s supposed attractiveness has entered into popular culture, partially thanks to the popularity of the dating app.
Southern Africa has a large percentage of women who might look for hookups and dating experiences with other females. Unfortunately, this means that you fall into the demographic that isn’t quite covered by most dating services out there.
