“As we’re making this series, the stories we’re hearing from mental health advocates, experts and people with lived experience are both harrowing and hopeful. 988 isn’t going to solve all of our problems overnight, but it’s certainly a giant step in the right direction,” said Wittels Wachs. “I’m honored to be able to dig into such an important topic with such a stellar team, including our series’ service correspondent Zak Williams, who has such incredible passion for helping us all do better at addressing mental health.

Yet the flight he ended up on reflected none of that,” said Thomas. “His death was a tragedy in the truest sense. In Transfer we will guide listeners through the many layers of this story – revealing details that are both shocking and heart breaking.”

The Film We Can’t See is a new podcast from BBC Sounds’ Audio Lab. It is hosted by Adam Zmith, who has found some lost sound recordings from 1930. As he listens to this archive of intriguing noises, he imagines a film that could have changed the world. The series imagines hidden queer connections between filmmakers over a century ago; treasured artefacts inside Britain’s celebrated museums speak for the first time in The Museum Of Bad Vibes; and Blossom Trees And Burnt-Out Cars unearths the radical ramblers and activist gardeners opening up nature to everyone. The creators say The Film We Can’t See is a journey through time and sound, into our bodies and our futures and a genre-bending adventure where documentary meets imagination with rich sound design by legendary musician Courtney Pine.

The Museum Of Bad Vibes is a new podcast from BBC Sounds’ Audio Lab. The UK has around 2,500 museums that attract around 100 million visitors each year, and between them they hold a staggering 275 million objects and artefacts. In this five-part series, Hanna Adan explores a collection of cultural and spiritual artefacts housed in British museums. With the help of experts and scholars, The Museum Of Bad Vibes also delves into the origin of each artefact and whether they should, or could, be returned to their homelands and intended communities.

“The series stems from my love of museums,” said Adan. “But just because you love something doesn’t mean you can’t critically examine it, right? I always questioned how the museums acquired these objects, what an object’s story was before it came to the UK and what if the objects could speak for themselves? So like a true millennial, I thought, why not make a podcast about it?

Blossom Trees And Burnt-Out Cars is a new podcast from BBC Sounds’ Audio Lab. Over the six episodes, Talia Randall meets the nature-loving pioneers who are breaking down barriers – visible and invisible – that keep many locked out of green space, including a YouTube gardener tackling racism with mulch, the nature writers who don’t fit the traditional mould and activists reclaiming the right to belong in rural England.

“If you had told me a year ago that I would have made a nature show I would have howled with laughter. Me? Are you sure babes? Throughout this process I told myself I wasn’t making a typical nature show but now that I’ve made the series, I don’t really know what ‘typical’ means,” said Randall. “This journey started with a simple question: who does and who doesn’t have access to nature? – but it’s grown into so much more than that. It has been a way in to talk about class, race, status, belonging, joy, which children are allowed to play freely in parks and which are seen as a threat.”

The Kill List is a new podcast from CBC Podcasts. When human rights activist Karima Baloch is found drowned off the shores of Toronto, an investigation into her mysterious death leads all the way back to Pakistan, the country she had recently fled. In this six-part series, host Mary Lynk explores the rampant abductions and killings of dissidents in Pakistan, the dangers that follow those who flee to the West, and a terrifying intelligence agency with tentacles around the globe. How did Karima die? And would Pakistan really carry out an assassination far beyond its borders? This is a story that a powerful state doesn’t want you to know.

Kuper Island is a new series from CBC Podcasts. This eight-part series hosted by Duncan McCue tells the stories of four students: three who survived and one who didn’t. They attended one of Canada’s most notorious residential schools – where unsolved deaths, abuse, and lies haunt the community and the survivors to this day.

Host David Ridgen and investigative journalist Amanda Robb dig into the 1998 murder of her uncle, a New York doctor killed for performing abortions. They uncover a network of anti-abortion movements linked to violence in North America and Europe. Twenty years later, debates about reproductive rights are heating up in the U.S.

This season is titled “Scam Likely” and follows an investigation into what was one of the biggest call center scams ever: more than 300 million dollars was stolen from Americans, and the tens of thousands of victims included people from all walks of life—white-collar and blue-collar workers, the wealthy and the poor, young mothers and elderly grandfathers.

“We spoke to victims and prosecutors and investigators across the United States and traveled to India to find the still at-large fugitives at the heart of this story,” Bhattacharjee said. “No other show to date has dived this deep into the intricacies of tele-fraud. It’s an incredible tale that will keep listeners on the edge of their seats and we’re excited to take them along on a thrilling ride.”
