‘For the Love of Music’

Quaker Valley Middle School Music Department presents “For the Love of Music” from 5-8 p.m. Feb. 7 at St. Stephen’s Church, 405 Frederick Ave. The evening includes performance from Quaker Valley musicians, a concert from Cello Fury, desserts, a silent auction and raffle. Book sale

Friends of the Sewickley Public Library will host their annual winter book sale from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 10, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 11 and 1-3:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at the library, 500 Thorn St. The sale features gently used fiction and nonfiction books, children’s books, DVDs, CDs and more. Bag Day is Feb. 12. Shoppers can fill one of the provided bags with as many items as they can fit for $5. All proceeds from the sale benefit the library. Call 412-741-6920 for more information.

Auditor services
approved

Leetsdale Council approved certified public accountants Cae Sabatini as the auditors for 2022, 2023 and 2024. The service proposal lists fees for each year at $11,000, $10,500 and $10,000, respectively.

Kindergarten
registration

Quaker Valley School District kindergarten registration for the 2023-23 school year is open online. The child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. Parents/guardians must include the child’s proof of age, proof of immunization and two proofs of residency from the family. Expired documents are not acceptable. Families can email the supporting documents to registration@qvsd.org. More information about the registration process, including forms, is available online at qvsd.org.

Rotary scholarship

The Bob Williams Rotary Memorial Scholarship Program has scholarships available for the 2022-2023 academic year. High school seniors in Allegheny and Beaver counties are eligible to apply. Those attending New Kensington-Arnold, Kiski Area and Burrell Area High Schools and The Kiski School in Westmoreland County are also eligible. Vocational students, G.E.D students and those attending parochial, charter and private schools are also eligible.

Students must have a 2.5 or higher grade point average and also must complete an essay, which highlights their community/school service, as part of the application submission.
