Granville Police Beat 11-10
Oct. 28
1 p.m. – A Rutland, Vermont woman called police to say she believed she had been scammed by a North Granville resident concerning the purchase of a dog. She was to meet this person at the Dollar Tree parking lot to pick up the animal, which she had already paid for. Upon investigation, it was learned the North Granville resident had been previously hacked and someone was using her Facebook account to run scams. The woman said she is trying to work with Facebook to get the account closed.
Oct. 30
10:35 a.m. – Police received a report from a village board member about a vehicle parked in a driveway on jacks, that was partially obscuring the sidewalk. The owner indicated there was a transmission problem that was being worked on but indicated he would move it further up the driveway within the hour. Police also indicated there was a Codes/DEC violation involved and informed the owner how to go about remedying it.
11:38 a.m. – An individual turned over a pill he had ordered but was unsure what it was. The medicine was identified and placed in the evidence locker to be destroyed.
11:43 a.m. – Police spoke with a Broadview Terrance landlord who indicated his tenant does not want a certain female on the premises. Landlord said he supports the request. The landlord was given instructions on what could be done legally and he promised to pass the information on to the tenant.
11:49 a.m. – A man reported a road rage incident that occurred just over the villager line in Vermont. Caller was advised he needed to report the incident to Vermont authorities.
8:30 p.m. – While on patrol on East Main Street an officer observed a westbound vehicle traveling at a higher than posted speed, confirmed by radar to be 50 mph. The vehicle was stopped on North Street, where it was determined the registration was suspended for an insurance lapse. Jonathan Martin of North Granville was issued a uniform traffic ticket for operating an unregistered motor vehicle on a highway.

Foster Love
The Sheriff’s Office Correctional Facility has teamed up with Foster Love to provide sweet cases to local foster children. These duffel bags will be hand decorated by incarcerated individuals in the correctional facility allowing them to give back to the community and will each contain a teddy bear, blanket, toothbrush kit, coloring book and crayons.
The first seven kits were completed for donation at the end of the month.
Oct. 30
The Sheriff’s Office arrested Lloyd A. Watkins for failing to register multiple internet accounts per New York State Correction Law. Watkins was charged with a Sex Offender Registry Violation, a class E Felony. Watkins is supervised by the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and was incarcerated at the time of arrest on a parole violation.
Watkins was arraigned in Washington County Centralized Arraignment and will appear in the Town of Hampton Court at a later date.
Oct. 30
The Sheriff’s Office arrested Roldan E. Montero of Catherine Street, Hudson Falls on two counts of sexual abuse 1st degree, a class D Felony. The Investigation determined that Montero had sexual contact with two separate individuals under the age of 13, who he was familiar with, over the course of several months. Montero was processed and arraigned at the Washington County Centralized Arraignment where he was released on his own recognizance pending court appearances in the Town of Kingsbury Court at a later date.
Nov. 1
1:25 p.m. – Police responded to a domestic argument at a Madison Street location after a woman claimed the man who resided there as well had locked her out of the residence. Upon arrival, the officer found the woman had since been let back in. The man denied locking her out. No further action on the part of the officer was required.
6:45 p.m. – A Quaker Street resident came to the station upset about spending all his money on lottery scratch off tickets. Stated he knew it was wrong and does not know why he did it. He called Northern Rivers for some phone counseling, after which he stated he felt better and was returning home.
Whitehall police beat
Oct. 26
5:05 p.m. Village police were contacted by Granville police with a request to see if a suspect they were seeking on an active warrant was at his home in Whitehall and, if so, to place him into custody. Whitehall officers visited the Broadway residence and spoke to the suspect’s mother, who told them he got out of work at 7 p.m. Police asked her to tell him to come to the station to talk about the incident. The suspect, Brandon K. Bakerian, 41, came to the Whitehall station, where he was told he was being sought by Granville police. A Granville officer subsequently arrived at the station and took Bakerian into custody.
7:03 p.m. Village officers on patrol saw a Whitehall man wanted on a warrant for missing a court date as he was walking down Poultney Street. The man, Nicholas R. Oliver, 29, of Elizabth Street, reportedly flicked his cigarette toward the patrol car, which stopped so officers could talk to Oliver. He was taken into custody on the warrant and taken to the Washington County Central Arraignment Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.
Oct. 27
4:54 p.m. A 15-year-old Whitehall teen was charged with two counts of petit larceny for allegedly using a stolen debit card to make purchases on Amazon. The charges also reflect the reported theft of a jacket and a cell phone from Whitehall Central School. The charges were filed by the suspect’s mother who told police her daughter had been stealing things recently and that the mother had found her debit card, along with $40 in cash, in her daughter’s pocket. The girl did not have permission to use the card. The teen was issued two juvenile appearance tickets.
Oct. 30
6:55 a.m. Police responded to a Broadway apartment after a resident there called them to ask that a person be removed from the residence. Upon arrival, officers heard the caller say she was going to tell police the man had struck her with an umbrella, then say she would not do that. After police knocked on the door, the caller told them she had a stay-away order of protection against the man, but officers determined she had only a refrain-from order that prohibited the person from committing a crime against her. The caller later said she was upset with the man because he had been smoking crack cocaine with neighbors, and she wanted him removed from the apartment. The man agreed to leave. Officers said both parties appeared to be impaired by alcohol and/or drugs.
Nov. 1
Noon. The owner of a new Whitehall business told police that a sign advertising his venture had been damaged and stolen. NYVT Exotic vape shop owner Abubakr Muflahi told officers a woman had used a cane to beat on one of his signs and took the sign. Muflahi said he only wanted the woman warned about repeating her attack but added he would press charges if it occurred again.
5 a.m. While on patrol, police saw Crickett J. Ashline, 33, of South Williams Street walking northbound on Broadway. A check revealed she was wanted on a warrant issued by the village court. She had been charged Oct. 7 with second-degree criminal trespass after she was discovered in an apartment, she did not have permission to be in. She was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail, where she was held.
Fair Haven Police Beat
Oct. 27
On this date police arrested 33-year-old Carl J. Stockwell of Fair Haven following an investigation into a reported larceny. On April 26, police were made aware of a reported larceny of a firearm from a residence in Benson. Police developed information that Stockwell was allegedly in possession of the stolen weapon. The firearm was recovered from Stockwell’s residence resulting in the arrest. Stockwell was also arrested on a prior offense involving the possession of cocaine and crack.
Stockwell was issued a citation to appear in Rutland District Court at a later date.

Vermont State Police Beat
Nov. 1
9:22 p.m. – Vermont troopers responded to a trespassing complaint in the town of Poultney and through an investigation determined that 37-year-old Collin Zecher allegedly violated an abuse protection order and entered a residence he had no lawful authority to access.
Zecher was eventually located and arrested. He was issued a citation to appear in Rutland District Court at a later date.
