SCAMMERS are pulling out all the stops to try and separate victims from their money online. Recently, a well-known brokerage firm appeared to have launched a new Facebook page, but those taking a closer look would notice that something seemed off about the page.

Is the “UOB Kay Hian-vip” Facebook page a fake?

Verdict:

TRUE

In a post on its actual Facebook page, UOB Kay Hian has warned investors that the “UOB Kay Hian-vip” Facebook page is a fake.

The brokerage firm flatly denied it had any connection to the digital doppelganger and that the page did not belong to it.

It warned its customers not to interact with the page as well as not to call any of the numbers provided there.

It also advised them to call its hotline at 03-2147 1888 to verify any information on programmes or offers and to contact the National Scam Response Centre at 997 if they had fallen victim to any scams.
