“Exactly what steps are you taking to stop these fraud/scam messages? I’ve circled the number the message came from, can you not do anything with that?”
They sent the bank an image of a fake message they had received, which read: “SANTANDER: Confirmation. You recently set up a new payee via mobile banking on 03/10. If this was NOT you, please visit: https://santander.auth-id-30.com.”
The bank quickly responded to confirm the message was fake and urged the person to report the issue.
Scammers are taking advantage of the cost of living crisis to try and ensnare people into handing over details and money.
