The Online Romance Scam

A romance scam, also known as an online dating scam, is when a person is tricked into believing they’re in a romantic relationship with someone they met online. In fact, their “other half” is a cybercriminal using a fake identity to gain enough of their victim’s trust to ask — or blackmail — them for money.

But instead of finding romance, many find a scammer trying to trick them into sending money. A 25-year-old girl from South Miami, a graduate of Florida State University, found just that and it cost her everything. She wired this predator a total of $25,000 and maxed out her Bank of America, Capital One, and Discover credit cards for another $15,000.

She agreed to give her exclusive story to Fox Chronicle with the understanding that we help bring this predator out of the shadows. We are trying to help her recover her money and stop this criminal from hurting others.

She gave us full access to her WhatsApp communication with the online predator. We changed her name to “Julie Suarez” because she is a victim and we are obligated to protect her identity. We even included similar photos that the victim sent to give our readers an understanding of how this scam works. All the information provided by the Sugar Daddy scammer is real.

Seeking Arrangement is a dating website dedicated to matching financially well-off “sugar daddies” with attractive “sugar babies” seeking partners who can provide them with “the finer things in life.” Those things can include dinners, gifts, trips, and paying off their student debt. Seeking Arrangement now has 20 million users but has recently come under scrutiny for being associated with the Matt Gaetz scandal.

Fox Chronicle Hires Private Investigator To Flush Out Predator

Fox Chronicle’s private investigator has been advising Julie on how to respond to his WhatsApp communication in an effort to set up a meeting and have the Sugar Daddy scammer brought to justice.

How Can She Be So Stupid?

You may be surprised when reading all the communication between the predator and the victim. You will most likely say to yourself, “How can she be so stupid?”

She is asking herself the same question. She was a victim. It is not her fault. The predator understood her vulnerabilities. She was targeted. She has decided to see a therapist to deal with the emotional trauma she is dealing with.

She told us she was in an abusive relationship prior to joining Seeking Arrangement. She was only on the site for a couple of months and was “trying to meet a nice guy and find a mentor.” She didn’t want any drama. But she was also “desperate to get off the site.”

You may not like what SeekingArrangement stands for. You may not like our victim because she is a sugar baby. But remember this – she is a victim and she has done nothing wrong. She has been targeted by an online predator in an elaborate online dating scam.
