Support pours in for CCPO Christmas appeal | #datingscams | #lovescams

THE CCPO, ET Rapid Response and Blue Security Christmas fundraiser, initiated by a community member, has so far raised a whopping R56 050.

Reena Solomon started the CCPO (Community Crime Prevention Organisation) Christmas appeal initiative nine years ago, to show appreciation as a community to the people who are out there 365/24/7, fighting crime and keeping the community safe.

She said with the help of the community, they will be able to spread a little Christmas cheer and make Christmas extra special for all supervisors, guards, street patrollers and response officers.

“[We’re] stunned, overwhelmed, and truly grateful for the incredible total raised so far. There are still another 17 days to go, and it’s still climbing. A massive thank you, once again, to everyone who has donated so far to this really worthy cause. This certainly would not be possible without the support of our amazing community,” said Reena.

All monies donated will be divided by 93 to give each person an equal voucher amount. Reena said the 93 total includes three supervisors, three response officers, three control-room operators, and 22 guards/street patrollers per eight-hour shift, which equals a total of 31 workers per shift with three shifts.

“My aim is to collect enough to gift each guard a R500 shopping voucher. The more donations received, the higher the value of the gift card,” she said.

She added that more businesses have donated than ever before. She also encourages shopping centres in the area to contribute to the appeal, seeing that these three security companies were instrumental during the July unrest.

Donations close on December 2, as she needs to hand out the Galleria Mall Gift cards before the CCPO office closes on December 15.

If you are paying by EFT and have the CCPO donation account as a bank beneficiary, please note that their banking details have changed to: CCPO Donation, FNB, Account number: 62798763077, Branch code: 220127, Reference: Name + Christmas.

Reena does not work for CCPO, so proof of payment must be emailed to [email protected], as she does not have access to their bank account and needs to record all donations received.

If you prefer to pay by cash or card, visit the CCPO office at Lords and Legends between 08:00 and 14:00, Monday to Friday.
