Love Island is now accepting applications through dating app Tinder in an attempt to shake up the casting process ahead of the show’s epic summer comeback.
The popular ITV show had no choice but to take a break last year after the coronavirus pandemic forced the UK, alongside many other countries, into lockdown and various restrictions.
However, earlier this month, Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of Media and Entertainment at ITV, confirmed Love Island is returning this year.
Now, to make things a bit more interesting, the series has coupled up with Tinder to bring on some fresh new faces to set up home in the villa on a quest to find love.

From Monday, 22 March, people on Tinder can apply to join the cast by making one Swipe Right in-app when they see Love Island among the other singletons they see crop up on their screens.
If selected, they will be put into a “Priority List”, which means they will be guaranteed to be seen by the casting team with their profiles acting as their first audition. Once chosen, a member of the Tinder team will contact them through email.
Sharing some advice to potential applicants of the show, ITV and Tinder said in the joint statement: “1. TRUST IN YOUR SAUCE – When applying for the show be authentic; show off your unique personality by creating a bio that gives us the insight into the real you. [sic]
“2. IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU – Make sure you upload pictures that best represent you. And by you we mean just you! Ditch the group shots and go solo in front of the camera. [sic]
“3. GOOD VIBES – Show off what you love to do in your spare time by telling us about your hobbies and interests, add in your Spotify anthems and generally a bit more about you. [sic]
“4. LAY IT ON FACTOR 50 – The more you tell us, the more likely you are to get noticed. Make sure you select your ‘passions’ in your profile. [sic]

“5. SERIOUSLY SINGLE – We need to see that you’ve been looking for love on Tinder. Have you matched on Tinder recently? If not, get on the app!” [sic]
Clearly excited by the prospect, ITV’s Simon Daglish said: “We love when brands like Tinder couple up with our programmes and it’s a perfect partner for the hugely anticipated return of Love Island this summer.
“This is the first time we’ve worked with a dating app in this way and I’m sure Tinder members will be excited to get involved with the show.”
Paige Turley and Finn Tapp were crowned winners of the show last year and are still together a year on.
Pregnant Laura Whitmore is expected to return as host of the show, along with her husband Iain Stirling as narrator.
