Love at First Swipe: Online Dating is About Personality

According to The Washington Post, the former co-host of TLC’s hit makeover show “What Not to Wear,” Clinton Kelly and this time with relationship expert, Devyn Simone as his partner, is bent to rehabilitating the wardrobe. The pair now host TLC’s new “Love at First Swipe”. In the show they help people improve their online dating profile in just 22 minutes of the TV program. Although the show only aired 4 episodes, a TLC spokesperson said the show will return on the first quarter of 2016.

The last episode featured a 40-year-old woman named Lynette who owns more than 50 wigs and has names for each of them. In her collection of profile pictures, she wears a different wig each time and given her age, it was hard to handle her personality. Kelly and Simone came to the rescue with some fashion tips and tough love, but most importantly they convinced Lynette to let her natural hair down. The episode ended with Lynette having a date with a man after her profile was improved.

The show isn’t just about new profile photos and a few dates. The show “What Not to Wear” targets the image the person seen to others through the clothes he or she wore. “Love at First Swipe” does the same with an online dating profile. The show wants the audience to know that your profile is your personal brand. “Once you take control of your image, that’s everything,” Kelly says

“In this world today, it’s all about marketing yourself. And you have to market yourself online the way you feel you should be sold,” he added. His words sounded cold, however, the viewers already know that what you choose to share to others is who you are.Kelly and Simone stress the need to make an image that matches the kind of relationship you’re looking for.
