A Provo man was booked into Utah County Jail Thursday morning on reports of raping a woman last week.

Police reports state the suspect, Calen Craig, invited the adult female to his house on Oct. 21. As the two talked in his bedroom, reports state he continually asked her if he could kiss her. She declined several times.

Reports state, Craig, 21, stared at her quietly, and then suddenly climbed on top of her and began kissing her. The victim froze in panic as the situation escalated. Reports state Craig then began to rape the woman, despite her pleas for him to get off of her.

Craig eventually got off the victim and apologized for what he did, reports state. The victim left soon after.

The victim called Craig soon after the incident, and asked him how she’s supposed to deal with the rape. He told her he didn’t know; he got drunk to “deal with it,” reports state. She told him she was going to call the police, and Craig was arrested shortly thereafter.

Police reports state Craig told officers in police interviews that “he was sorry that the victim thought he raped her.” Craig asked for an attorney before more questions could be asked.
