GONZALES — A local man wound up behind bars after police said he wrote a letter to a woman demanding she deliver either cash or have sex with him. If she did neither, he would take her truck from her.
At 10 p.m. July 30, Officer Victor Izaguirre met with a woman at the police department who said she had received a letter containing a threat to take property from her, Capt. Allen Taylor said. The letter, which was written by Juan Antonio Lizama, 40, of Gonzales, stated that Lizama would take her truck from her unless she either paid him a lump sum of money or had sexual relations with him.
After obtaining a statement from the victim, police wrote up a probable cause affidavit, which was presented to County Judge David Bird. Bird issued the warrant, leading to Lizama’s arrest. Lizama was picked up and transported to Gonzales County Jail, charged with compelling prostitution.
