An indignant man has argued that he shouldn’t have to pay his date back after his dog chewed up one of her pricey designer shoes.
The pair connected on Tinder and decided to meet at his home for a date, the man explained in a Reddit post.
When his date arrived, the man asked that she leave her shoes at the door to avoid tracking dirt through the house.

It’s a pretty common request for guests to remove their shoes when entering someone’s home and she was happy to oblige.
But everything went pear-shaped when the “hookup” came to an end and the woman discovered one of her shoes had vanished.
“When she was leaving, we noticed one of her shoes was missing. We looked around and found my dog chewing on it. It was barely recognisable,” the man revealed.
He claimed that the woman was a “sugar baby” and dressed extremely well, wearing accessories like a Louis Vuitton bag and Tiffany necklace.
Her shoes were equally as flashy – a pair of $1,200 Gucci boots – so the woman was horrified to find his dog had mangled one.
Claiming that his dog “doesn’t usually have a problem” with chewing shoes, the man added: “He hasn’t done something like this in years so I couldn’t have expected it.”
While that may be the case, the woman’s shoe was ruined beyond repair and she “demanded” the man pay her for the damage.
“But I just don’t have that type of money,” the man claimed in his post. “If I don’t pay for it, can she pursue legal action?”
Fellow Reddit users were blunt in their replies; the damage was his fault, so he should cough up the change.

“You destroyed her property, you need to pay for it,” one wrote, another adding: “Don’t make your guests leave their shoes out if you dog chews them.”
Several people also took issue with the man branding the woman a “sugar baby” and acting as if she was being “demanding” by asking him to reimburse her for the ruined shoes.
“Maybe she earned that money herself,” one pointed out, a second calling him a “misogynist”.
Another chimed in: “It doesn’t matter if she’s a doctor, lawyer, stripper, or sugar baby. You invited her into your home and your dog destroyed her property. You are responsible.”
The man’s post was later cleared from the site, with the suggestion that he wasn’t too happy with the responses he got.
