Missing woman found dead; ex-boyfriend arrested

A man accused of holding his girlfriend against her will was arrested in Darke County with a body in the trunk of his auto, police say.

A Darke County Sheriff’s deputy responded to vehicle in a ditch on state Route 49 in Greenville, OH.

ELYRIA, Ohio- Authorities in Greenville, Ohio were investigating an impaired driver and ended up finding a body they believe to be a missing Elyria woman. Deputies were eventually able to take Owens into custody.

Owens held a knife up to his throat and tried to slice it, but the knife was too tiresome, Costantino said. They said they believe it’s Satterfield.

Detectives from the Elyria Police Department are on their way to Greenville to assist with the investigation.

Satterfield’s sister, Michele Plumley, reported her missing Monday after a friend was unable to reach the woman, who had been having problems with Owens, her ex-boyfriend.

Ms. Plumley then went to the home and found Ms. Satterfield’s auto parked outside with her purse in the passenger’s seat. Detectives searched the home she once shared with her ex-boyfriend, 56-year-old Roy E. Owens Jr., on Charles Court in Elyria. Investigators found blood on the ground at the Charles Court home and there was evidence of a struggle inside one of the rooms in the home, police say.

Satterfield’s sister found her cellphone nearby after she called it. Police had asked for the public’s help in locating both Satterfield and Owens as well as the auto. Elyria police have issued a warrant for Owens’ arrest for Felonious Assault and Domestic Violence and have signed an additional warrant for Aggravated Murder.
