N.H. man accused of kidnapping ex-girlfriend

DOVER, N.H. (NEWS CENTER) — A man from New Hampshire is accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend.

Dover Police said the victim was on the phone with a friend at 3:30 a.m. Friday when the friend heard her scream, and then the line went dead. The friend immediately called police. When police got to the house, the woman and her car were missing.

A few hours later, the woman was found.

She said her ex-boyfriend, Earl Shaffer of Dover, had kidnapped her and forced her into her own car, took her phone, and held her against her will while he drove around Dover and Rochester.

Eventually, police say, Shaffer let her leave.

Shaffer was arrested at his home and charged with kidnapping and four misdemeanors.
