Next, play some spiritual music, light a candle or some incense. Calm and centre yourself by taking a few deep, cleansing breaths. Then decide on your top-10 intentions for the coming four weeks.
“These can be anything, from getting a new job to being more abundant,” says Boland. “Be as specific or as vague as you like. Nothing is too big or too small. However, the bigger wishes may take a few rounds of new moon wishing. The only rule is that you never mess with someone else’s free will.”
Next, write down your top-10 wishes on a sheet of paper. “You can use a regular blue or black biro or ink pen to do this, or try coloured pens or pencils: the more energy you invest in the process, the better your results are likely to be.”
Then read your wishes through, one by one, visualising each wish as already having come true as you go.
“Use your imagination to really see it. And then try to imagine how you would feel if and when the wish comes true. Hold those feelings and come up with an affirmation that backs up your wish and write that down too. For example, you could write ‘I am in love!’ if you’re wishing for love. Or ‘I love my new job!’ if you want to make a career change.”
Making things happen
Naturally there is a temptation to just write down ‘Bottega Veneta pouch’ and leave it up to the universe to magically deliver it via courier the next day. But unfortunately it’s not that simple. To manifest your intentions, you have to visualize the steps you need to take to make them happen.
“For example, if your wish is to find a new job, your first step towards that could be to ask around, or to look at adverts on job sites,” she says. “Or if you want to meet a partner, two obvious first steps would be to ask friends to set you up with someone, or to join an online dating site. Write down how you intend to achieve each wish.”
Finally, finish the first step of this practice with a 15-minute meditation. “End your meditation by releasing attachment to your wishes. Do this by chanting Om Namo Narayani (Om Na-moe Na-RY-annee) three times. This is Sanskrit for ‘I surrender to the divine!’ Get on with the rest of your week, safe in the knowledge that you’ve expressed your wishes to the universe. Do everything you can to make them come true.”
Releasing up to the divine
The next step of this process is to release whatever it is that’s holding you back from manifesting your dream life, into the universe. This, Boland advises, should be done at full moon, which occurs twice a month, two weeks after every new moon.
