Speed dating in difficult times… Copyright: other

The next Brighton online speed dating session will be on Wednesday 29th April at 7:30pm aimed at men and women aged in their 20s and 30s.

Spokeswoman Holly Jones said: “If you’re looking for that special someone or just fancy a fun night talking to new people, live online speed dating is what you’ve been looking for!

“From the safety and comfort of your own home, you will log online to speak live to local singles in your area. Once everyone has arrived online and registered, we will briefly explain the format of the evening.

“You will then be allocated into private areas for dating time to speak one to one to each lady or gentlemen in the group that evening until you’ve spoken to everyone in turn. You will have 4 minutes to chat privately to each date, once the 4 minutes is over you will be allocated your next date.

“It’s a hugely fun way to meet up with people! Four minutes is long enough to see if you click with the person you are talking to and whether you would like to talk to them again and also short enough if you don’t. At the end of each date, you have a brief few moments to make some notes on the person you have just dated please use the dating tickets forwarded. These notes will be helpful for the post-event matching process the following evening. Don’t worry, there always will be moderators on hand to help!”

Holly explained: “Slow Dating is an event company that run speed dating events in bars across the country, including in your local area. There were scheduled speed dating events due to take place in the region over the next few months, but these unfortunately have been cancelled.

“Due to recent events the founder of the company Chris Grayston has decided to move his company Slow Dating online to keep the business running!

“The idea of this is to give people the chance to chat privately online for a few minutes with other single people, much the same as traditional speed dating.

“This is a brilliant way for single people in your area to carry on mixing even in isolation and means they don’t miss out completely! It is also a great way to ease the sense of loneliness that people may be experiencing at the minute.”

Not wanting to lose his business, single dad and owner Chris Grayston decided to take his live events company online.

Chris explained “We have to try something new, as if the bars are going to be shut until end of April, it means we can’t reschedule events until the end of May at the earliest. That will cripple us as a business, not to have any events for two or more months and thus end of the company, which has been running successfully for 15 years.”

“Also, I thought this is going to be a very isolating and lonely time for people if they are unable to go out and socialize. There must be a way to keep things running safely and as normal as possible”

Chris has already faced challenges single handedly bringing up his daughter and son who suffers from ADHD whilst at the same time running his business.

“Dating doesn’t have to go on hold

“From April, Slow Dating will be offering singles all around the UK the chance to socialize and date, all without having to leave the house.”
