Conversation turned to growing old alone during Loose Women’s episode on Friday (September 13).
The discussion between panelists Carol McGiffin, Penny Lancaster, Kaye Adams and Brenda Edwards was sparked following news that people over 70 are getting married more often while fewer younger woman are tying the knot.
Kaye questioned her fellow panelists on whether people fear being alone as they get older which prompted Brenda to open up about her own experiences.
“I fear being alone when I’m old, I do” said Brenda.
“I’ve been thinking about it more over the last couple of months or so. I’ve been thinking am I going to be lonely.
“I’ve got the children there, I fill my whole life with my children – everything is about my kids”.
Brenda bravely explained her children are older and tend do their own thing leaving her sometimes feeling alone in the house – although she has recently got two kittens.
Brenda continued: “I’ve been toying with the idea of going on dating websites. I’ve filled out some information and i’ve been swiping alot”.
“But I’m very nervous about that”.
She also mentioned she finds it easier being friends with men than woman leading Loose Women viewers to take to Twitter to support Brenda’s quest into finding a companion.
One fan questioned: “How is Brenda alone? She seems an absolute ball #LooseWomen”.
A second added: “I will be Brenda’s friend. We would have a laugh and I could give her some free dating advice! #LooseWomen”.
A third said: “There you lucky lads Brenda is on the hunt #LooseWomen”.
“@loosewomen Yes @brenda_edwards I couldn’t agree more with you. I’m facing this now and it’s causing anxiety and depression. I don’t find it easy to make friends in real life due to low self esteem. It’s difficult and yes I fear for my future xx”, explained another honest viewer.
