He is one of the world’s most eligible bachelors, thanks to his role in hit series Normal People, but even actor Paul Mesal is exploring the world of online dating.
The Kildare actor, 24, has reportedly signed up to celebrity dating app Raya, following in the footsteps of stars like Niall Horan, Channing Tatum and Brody Jenner.
It comes just days after Paul sparked rumours he was dating US singer Phoebe Bridgers, 25, after they were spotted together at a cafe in Cork last week.
But it seems the pair could just be friends, as Paul is using her song I Know The End in his profile on the app.
“He knows he would be recognised instantly on regular dating apps so has turned to Raya because it’s more exclusive and discreet,” a source told The Sun.
Like all other members on Raya the actor had to be invited by another A-list member and had to get approved.
It comes after Paul admitted he is “nothing like” his character Connell Waldron, saying he finds it weird to have so many female fans.
“To be honest, it’s uncomfortable. I’m not trying to be full of faux humility but it’s a weird thing when people are very quickly attracted to a character you play,” he told The Sun.
“And I think that’s the thing I’m focusing on. I’m not Connell, I’m totally different to him. I think maybe what’s sexy about Connell is he’s kind of classic back-footed, aloof, smart. I’m definitely not back-footed or aloof.”
“It was kind of fun at the start, ‘oh, this is mad, people think that Connell’s sexy,’ and then a weird thing has kind of crept in where, when people DM, there’s this feeling that maybe there’s an anticipation that I’m him.
He later told the I’m Grand Mam podcast: “This is for the record, if anybody ever dates me, I am not Connell and nor do I want to be him.”
