HOUSTON – Deputies are investigating after they said a man fatally shot one of two teens who tried to rob him Friday.

Deputies said the incident happened around 1:45 a.m. at Forest Creek Apartments in the 5900 block of Uvalde.

According to HCSO, the two male teens showed up at the scene as a 25-year-old man was trying to meet up with a woman that he communicated with via an online dating app. Deputies said the teens had a fake AR-15. As the teens tried to rob the man, deputies said he then shot one of them, who was 17 years old, and killed him. The robbery victim told deputies his pistol jammed, so he returned to his car, drove to the gas station, and called 911.

Deputies said when they arrived at the scene, they found the other teen trying to give the teen who was shot CPR by building #14. Deputies located the broken plastic rifle and other evidence near building #1, they said.

The shooting is being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit. Anyone with information is urged to contact deputies at 713-274-9100 or call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
