#onlinedating | The Midnight Hour is Best Suited for Online Dating Suggestion: QuackQuack | #bumble | #tinder | #pof

Gone are the days when the most popular as well as the only way of dating someone was ‘meeting in person’ over a cup of coffee or a lunch/dinner date at a restaurant, watching a movie together, or going for long drives. Now, love has no distance related restrictions as virtual dating has popularised beyond expectation, thanks to lockdown! A few months ago, before the pandemic began its rampage through the country, the whole scenario would have seemed profoundly strange. When the entire country was told to stay at home and avoid unnecessary interactions, desi millennials found online dating to the rescue and now, the trend seems to have overtaken traditional means of dating.

Our desi millenials are busy experimenting with multiple options available on online dating platforms — be it dating at midnight or during lunch hours. Of course, there is no specific time for using dating apps but midnight hour seems to be most popular and preferred by millennials. A deep dive into the behaviour of its users by QuackQuack, India’s leading dating app has revealed which has witnessed a huge surge in their user-base during the lockdown.

In recent statistics shared by QuackQuack, it was found that the dating platform has over 8 lakh monthly active users. And it’s not surprising that netizens spend a lot of time online to kill boredom with users spending as much as 11 minutes on the app looking at profiles. It also found that men login about 24 times a day while women spend double the time opening the app to check out their matches, 48 to be precise. Surprising? But, that is the behaviour revealed!

Midnight and office lunch hours are time to date

The behaviour revealed that the peak hours when users are super active on the dating app is from 10 pm to 1 am (midnight) and the second most active time is during lunch hours, around 1 pm to 3 pm. The least active time spent is during 6 pm to 8 pm, maybe it’s time to wrap up work and head home! So, if you find someone real quick to date, you know when to login! Surprisingly, desi boys are increasingly becoming active in the early hours of the morning around 9 am, while desi girls are more relaxed and the peak starts to build up around 10 am. Perhaps they don’t mind kick-starting their day checking out some fresh faces.

Weekdays are more fun than weekends

It’s true! Desi millennials are more active on weekdays on dating apps compared to weekends. Most millenials spend more time on dating apps on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays perhaps beating the weekend blues or to get off the boring office work by browsing matches or chatting on the app. Also, interestingly, users have been found to be spending less time on the app on the weekends, with least activity on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Sundays sees steady and consistent traffic throughout the day, as people laze around growing through a laid back day.

This behaviour seems unique and very Indian, or simply put ‘a very desi way of dating’ as more millenials adapt to the dating culture in India.
