A woman has revealed how dating sugar daddies allowed her to pay off her student loans and even find a genuine romantic relationship amid the coronavirus lockdown.
Billie Lade, 24, from California, regularly dates wealthy older men who lavish her with gifts and financial support, allowing her to enjoy a much more comfortable life.
Billie, who works full-time as a special education teacher, has used cash from her sugar daddies to eliminate her $8,500 in college loans, and has also been treated to fancy meals and activities like skiing — but she insists she doesn’t go out with men who expect to sleep with her right off the bat.
High life: Billie Lade, 24, from California, regularly dates wealthy older men who lavish her with gifts and financial support, allowing her to enjoy a much more comfortable life
Free of debt! Billie, who works full-time as a special education teacher, has since used cash from her sugar daddies to eliminate her $8,500 in college loans
Billie started using online dating in 2004, mainly opting for Tinder and Bumble in college, when she’d date other college guys.
‘Since graduating and coming to the Bay Area though, I’ve had much less leisure time to endlessly scroll through people I wanted to date,’ she told Jam Press.
‘My love language is gift-giving and receiving, and I wanted to be efficient in my dating. I only wanted to date men who were willing to talk to me in a way that made me feel wanted and loved, for example through gifts.
Billie explained that sugar dating means she no longer has to ‘sort through hundreds of people on the off chance there will be one who meets my standards, so I can focus my time more on dating and less on finding!’
She added that while doesn’t necessarily earn ‘good money’ through her sugar daddies, they have given her ‘room to breathe’ when it comes to her student loans, meaning she can enjoy life instead.
‘My love language is gift-giving and receiving, and I wanted to be efficient in my dating,’ she explained
‘Sugar dating is not for every person, but it certainly works for me,’ she explained
‘I don’t keep a solid record of all the gifts and presents sugar daddies have given me, but I have been able to pay off my undergraduate student loans of $8,500, which has been such a life-changer, and has made it so much more exciting to plan for the future!’ she said.
She’s also been treated to plenty of decadent meals, and adventurous dates such as skiing and rock-climbing, which she says are expensive activities to do in California.
Billie said that she finds dating sugar daddies is an ’empowering’ experience which has given her a better sense of self.
‘I know what I want, and I know what I have to offer, and I’m able to surround myself with like-minded individuals. Sugar dating is not for every person, but it certainly works for me,’ she explained.
She said that she sets clear expectations over text or FaceTime before heading off her on her date, and makes them aware that just because she is going on a date with them, it does not guarantee or entitle them to anything more than a ‘pleasant evening with fun conversation.’
Play nice: She makes sure dates know that they may not sleep with her right away
‘There are men out there that expect sex right away, but those men are kind of creepy and not the kind of men I say “yes” to a date with,’ she said
‘If my date doesn’t respond well to that, then I cancel the date and move on,’ she said, adding that ‘there will always be jerks and creeps everywhere, but I feel like I put the necessary safeguards in place to avoid most of those men.’
Billie said her ‘arrangements’ with her sugar daddies are not so different from a typical date, and she will often meet up with them at a bar, a coffee shop, a theatre, or a restaurant.
Every relationship progresses at a different pace, she noted, and that’s what she finds makes it so exciting.
‘Social and emotional relationships are easiest to establish, and there’s certainly a lot of men in the Bay Area of California that just want someone to talk to,’ she explained.
‘There are men out there that expect sex right away, but those men are kind of creepy and not the kind of men I say “yes” to a date with,’ she said.
‘If our relationship turns physical, then awesome!’ she said. ‘If they try to force it or if they think they’re entitled to my body because they took me on a date, then he’s not a man but rather an animal in my opinion and I’m going to run away from him.’
Relationship: She is currently quarantining with a man she met this way, however he is in his 20s unlike many of the older men she usually dates

Billie is currently in a romantic relationship with an ‘incredible’ sugar daddy and is even shacked up with him in his cabin near Lake Tahoe amid the coronavirus lockdown.
‘He is the only man I have a romantic and physical connection with now,’ she said. ‘I would not consider him a conventional nor stereotypical sugar daddy since he’s a lot younger (also in his twenties, like me) than most of the men I have sugar dated.’
‘I call him my romantic partner rather than my sugar daddy.
‘He does all the same things though: treats me to delicious food on dates or dishes he has made himself, takes me on fantastic weekend getaways in the Bay Area or while we are traveling, and buys me gifts that are meaningful and beyond my own budget, such as sexy clothes.’
Billie said that while the pair have talked about their future ‘beyond the coronavirus pandemic’ nothing is certain.
‘We’ve been slowly introducing each other, via FaceTime and Zoom, to our families and friends, as well as dreaming together what our future will look like, which is a good sign in my opinion. My relationship with him is nothing like I pictured when I first started changing the way I dated, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.’
Changing her ways? Billie said that she and the man she is currently living with have talked about their future ‘beyond the coronavirus pandemic’, but she noted that nothing is certain
The sugar baby also noted that while she’s currently smitten, she’s still messaging and flirting with other sugar daddies and her romantic partner is also still in contact with a number of women.
‘He’s totally supportive of me pursuing my social connections with other people, but we established that we were going to be exclusive in our romantic and sexual relationship,’ she said.
‘We’re super open about our communication and expectations, which is so refreshing and exciting.’
For any women out there who are considering dating a sugar daddy, Billie suggests they ask themselves why they want to do it, what are their limits and how much personal energy they are willing to put into their dating life.
‘Sugaring is consuming, it takes more mental effort than regular dating, but for me, the rewards have been so worth it. Being in control of my dating life while meeting my goals and feeling cared for have changed my life for the better.’
