A date night ended with a stabbing on Thursday after police say a man was attacked in a Glendale hotel by a woman he met through a dating app.

The man, described as being in his 40s, was stabbed in the neck while at the Extended Stay America at 1377 W. Glenoaks Blvd. sometime before 7:30 p.m.

Sgt. Dan Suttles, a spokesman with the Glendale Police Department, said the man and woman met up at the hotel after communicating through a dating app and, at some point in the night, an altercation broke out between them.

“It’s not clear if they made it inside to an actual room … but it wasn’t inside the lobby,” he said. “What exactly caused it or what the motive behind the assault was is still unknown, but the female did end up stabbing the male.”

The man suffered a nonlife-threatening, 3-inch stab wound to his neck, and it’s believed a knife was used in the attack, according to Suttles.

“Apparently, it missed everything that would have made it a mortal wound,” he said.

The woman quickly left the hotel through a side exit and drove off in what is described as either a gray or silver sedan.

Suttles said the man tried to chase after the woman in his own car but only made it about half a block before pulling into a gas station and asking for help after “realizing his injuries were severe enough that he needed attention,” Suttles said.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover from the incident.

Police are still searching for the woman, and Suttles said investigators plan to review video surveillance at the hotel.
