Is Tinder About to Roll Out a New Platinum Service With More Features?
A user on Reddit accidentally stumbled onto a Tinder sign-up page listing what appears to be a brand new, top-level tier that may be available to paid users of the dating app.

In the wake of its long-awaited rollout of video calls, it seems as though Tinder is getting ready to unleash even more new features as people continue to socially-distance date. Reddit user El_Goat posted on r/SwipeHelper that they were trying to sign up for Tinder in an incognito Google Chrome tab on their desktop, but accidentally denied Tinder access to their location. It was then that they noticed an unfamiliar paid tier option on the left-hand sidebar that touted itself as “Tinder Platinum.” It spit out an error message when they tried to sign up for the service, and it did not reappear when they refreshed the page and allowed proper access to their location.
This odd back-end behavior was called into question, and Tinder officials aren’t even denying it. Their spokesperson told Mashable, “As discussed on the Q1 Match Group [Tinder’s parent company] earnings call, Tinder is testing a number of revenue features throughout the second half of 2020.”
They’re not exactly spilling the full details, but you can bet something big (and undoubtedly price) is coming down the pipeline. The dating app already conceptualized a Tinder Concierge service to help users pimp their profile as well as multiple tiers with extra features. The lowest tier, Tinder Plus, costs $4.99 per month and offers an ad-free experience with unlimited likes, additional Super Likes, a monthly Boost, access to the Passport feature to swipe from around the world and the ability to rewind when you accidentally swipe left on your dream match. Tinder Gold at $14.99 per month has grants access to all of the above in addition to specially-curated “top picks,” as well as the ability to see if someone has already liked you before you swipe on them.
What more could Platinum possibly offer, you ask? Well, a screenshot appears to reveal that the almighty power of seeing who’s already liked you will get moved up from the Gold level to the highest-cost tier. It will also allow for a message to be attached to a Super Like, and for your card to be moved to the top of the stack of anyone you’ve liked.
It should also be noted that the Platinum option has been spotted on the Apple Subscription page of some iPhone users in the United States, revealing and the price Tinder would like you to put on finding your potential perfect match. If the screenshots are correct, one month of Tinder Platinum at full price could set you back about $40.
It’s not yet known when or where this feature may roll out, though, so you probably have some time to save up if you’re interested in giving Platinum a shot.
