Police launch investigation after woman racially abused on dating app Tinder | #tinder | #pof

Police have launched an investigation after a woman was sent a racist message on Tinder.

Officers were alerted after the woman, who is from Lincoln, was sent the obscene message on the dating app, which sees people match with each other and then messaging to get to know each other.

A post detailing the incident has been spreading on social media.

People have started making allegations in relation to the post and have started naming people they think are responsible.

Police have asked that those posts are deleted to avoid any risk of libel if people are accused of a crime despite being completely innocent.

In a statement, police said: “We are investigating an incident in which a woman received a racist message over Tinder.

“There has been some speculation on social media regarding who is responsible. This is irresponsible, unhelpful, and potentially libellous. Please delete any comments or posts in which any individual is named.

“We would like to highlight that the four men on the profile photo used on the account in question are not involved in this incident.

“The Tinder account in question was accessed by an unauthorised individual.”

Anyone with information should contact the force quoting incident 467 of March 17
