Love is in the Texas air.
A recent study from Apartment List used local dating satisfaction, the percentage of singles in the area and satisfaction with outdoor activities (which are highly recommended during COVID) to determine the best metro areas for pandemic dating — and the Lone Star State dominates the list.
The study ranked Austin at No. 1, San Antonio at No. 6 and Houston at No. 8.
“With the Lone Star State’s warm climate and host of outdoor opportunities, it’s no surprise the state dominated the top 10,” the study. “Whether you’re sitting outdoors eating BBQ in Houston or enjoying socially-distanced Tex-Mex in San Antonio, Texas clearly offers a strong dating scene.”
BEWARE: Romance scams are on the rise during pandemic
Austin’s weather alone is enough reason to enjoy a nice date in the city, and that’s probably why a study-high 89.7 of people said they were satisfied with the city’s outdoor activities.
The study also found that while 52.5 percent of people are single, 34.6 percent are overall satisfied with the dating scene.
Houston follows closely behind Austin with 34.4 percent of local singles reporting satisfaction with the city’s dating scene. It may come as a shocker to learn that over half (50.5 percent) of the population is still single. The study also said 70.5 percent of Houston singles sampled reported satisfaction with the city’s offerings for outdoor recreation.
Even more San Antonians are looking for love—55 percent of the city’s residentas are single and give the local dating scene a satisfaction rate of 29 percent. As far as their satisfaction with outdoor dating opportunities, 63.4 percent are happy in San Antonio.
Elsewhere, coastal American cities reported being satisfied with their pandemic dating lives. Virginia Beach, Miami and San Diego also ranked in the study’s Top 10.
You probably won’t have much dating luck in Jacksonville, Florida, which came in last on the list. The study found that only 14.8 percent are satisfied with the dating scene.
