Durham Regional Police have two new and separate human trafficking cases on their hands and one suspect is a woman.
In late 2019, the Human Trafficking Unit started an investigation after a female came forward with allegations she had been trafficked.
Kia Samson, 22, of no fixed address is wanted for trafficking a person under the age of 18 and exercising control, material benefit from sexual services, invite and sexual exploitation of a young person, possession of child pornography, fail to comply, obstruct justice, and procuring a person under 18 years of age.
Police are urging her to surrender.
In another case, a Pickering male, wanted in a human trafficking investigation, turned himself into police on Tuesday morning.
On Friday, February 21, the Durham Regional Police Human Trafficking Unit started an investigation after a 24-year-old female came forward saying she had been trafficked.
Police say between the summer of 2015 and February 2020, the suspect, Daniel Bell procured a 24-year-old female to work in the sex trade industry as an escort.
Bell, 29, of Pickering, has been charged with material benefit trafficking person, material benefit from sexual services, procuring, advertising sexual services, trafficking exercising control and three counts of assault.
Police said Tuesday he was being held for a bail hearing.
Police have released his photo to ensure there are no other victims.
