EAST HAVEN — Two East Haven men face federal jail time after they were linked to sex trafficking last year, according to authorities.

Joel “Joey Guapo” Lindsay, 22, and Joseph Pina, 23, were each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor, according to a news release from the office of the U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham. The offense carries a maximum term of life in prison.

Lindsay, a citizen of Jamaica, was also charged with one count of sex trafficking of a minor, an offense that carries a mandatory minimum term of 10 years and a maximum term of life imprisonment.

A federal grand jury in New Haven returned an indictment charging the two men with the sex trafficking-related offenses.

The indictment alleges that in October 2019 Lindsay and Pina “recruited, enticed and transported a minor victim to engage in commercial sex acts,” the news release said.

Lindsay was arrested Thursday and is in federal custody. Pina is in state custody on unrelated charges.
