CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – Big changes to what you see at local strip clubs and sex shops in Charlotte County are coming.
Leaders want to make sure employees in the adult industry aren’t being preyed upon.
As a lifeline to victims of human trafficking, Charlotte County leaders are discussing putting up human trafficking awareness signs inside “sex-oriented” businesses.
According to the owner of the Emerald City Strip Club, “human trafficking rarely happens in Charlotte County.”
According to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, Florida is ranked as one of the top three states for human trafficking. Oftentimes, the crime is happening in our own backyards.
The signs that will go up in strip clubs, massage parlors and sex shops will be written in English, Spanish and Creole.
County leaders will discuss the proposal at a meeting on Tuesday morning.
