FORT MYERS, Fla. – On Wednesday, Oct. 21, Ivanka Trump visited Fort Myers just four days after her father made a visit.
The first daughter and the president’s advisor spoke first to a crowd of about 400 and then talked exclusively with NBC2. Below is a partial transcript of the conversation.
Dave Elias: Tell us something about your father we may not know. If you could give us some personal insight what would that be?
Ivanka Trump: What is amazing about him… he’s the most transparent president ever. Right? I do think the American public fundamentally understands who he is. I think most people don’t realize just how much he loves people.
Dave Elias: You brought up sex trafficking. You mentioned a case just up the road in Tampa.
Ivanka Trump: Law enforcement has been doing a phenomenal job on a local level rounding out this evil.
She’s talking about 22 men who were busted for trying to have sex with kids in Hillsborough County. A Naples man was among those arrested.
It’s an issue she said her father is prioritizing.
Ivanka Trump: This president, while it’s not often reported, but in three and a half years has passed nine pieces of legislation to combat human trafficking in America.
Ivanka’s final pitch was school choice.
Ivanka Trump: So the president is deeply committed to this particular cause. He has called for making school choice available to every parent in the country and in the second term, will pass historic legislation on that front and he’s also been working to get vocational education into every high school in America.
Dave Elias: Some would say that is more of a local or a state issue.
Ivanka Trump: It is. We support the states in a lot of the work we do with the federal government. Child care is one example. It’s this president that gave a record amount of funding to the states.
Ivanka spoke on stage for about 30 minutes and then hit the road again. She’s expected on the campaign trail up until Election Day.
