Multiple charges have been laid against a Calgary man and woman suspected of trafficking a teenage girl earlier this year.

On March 25, police were called to do a welfare check on a 15-year-old girl at the Sandman Hotel at 888 Seventh Avenue S.W.

Investigators said they discovered that the victim had been trafficked by a woman to a man in exchange for drugs and money.

The victim was also coerced into subsequent sexual acts with both the man and woman against her will, police said.

On Wednesday, police arrested Michael Todd Mazar, 48, and Cheyenne Madison Savannah Lee Schmeikal,19.

They face multiple charges, police said.

For Mazar, who is to appear in court on Nov. 18, the charges include:

  • Sexual assault.
  • Sexual interference.
  • Invitation to sexual touching.
  • Obtaining sexual services for consideration.

For Schmeikal, who is set to appear in court on Nov. 20, the charges include:

  • Sexual assault.
  • Obtaining sexual services for consideration from a person who is under 18.
  • Trafficking a person who is under 18.
