A North Carolina man has been convicted of trafficking a minor for sex and producing child pornography, a federal prosecutor said Friday.
Marvarlus Cortel Snead, 34, of Four Oaks, was convicted on Thursday after a four-day trial, U.S. Attorney Robert J. Higdon Jr. said in a news release.
Higdon said Snead prostituted an adult female and a minor victim across eastern North Carolina in December 2017 and January 2018, targeting vulnerable victims and luring them with promises of money and romance. After they joined him, Higdon said Snead manipulated the victims and took their money for himself.
Snead also engaged in a sexual relationship with both females and used the minor to create child pornography, according to Higdon.
Snead faces a sentence of not less than 15 years and up to life in prison, a fine of up to $750,000 and up to life supervised release at sentencing, which hasn’t been scheduled, according to the news release.
