A Portland man has been indicted on 35 charges related to human sex trafficking, including kidnapping, rape and compelling prostitution, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Johnel Johnson, 32, was taken into custody March 1 after police served search and arrest warrants in the 3700 block of Southeast 166th Avenue, according to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation began in February when police received a report that a suspect, later identified as Johnson, had used weapons to kidnap, rob and sexually assault an unidentified victim, the office said. Prosecutors also said Johnson forced the victim to engage in prostitution.
While investigating that incident, prosecutors said police learned of a report about another similar incident in November.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims and asked anyone with information to contact Detective Kyffin Marcum at 503-823-0462 or Detective Scott McCollister 503-823-0424.
