Shops beating Tinder and nightclubs for one-night stands – with 5m getting lucky | #tinder | #pof

Up to five million frisky Brits have had a one-night stand with someone they met at the shops.

A survey found 14 per cent had an extra-special offer after an encounter at the checkout or on the shop floor.

That’s as many as got together in a bar or at a party.

And only eight per cent – roughly three million of the adult population – could lay claim to a one-night stand with someone they met at a nightclub.

Arty folk were a picture of happiness after 750,000 enjoyed a one-nighter with a stranger they met at a gallery or museum.

Some 2.5million got things moving by sleeping with someone they met on a train or bus. Four per cent – around 1.5million – really did love thy neighbour.

And three per cent said a visit to the park or gardens had led to frolics amid the bedding.

The results emerged in a survey which showed 77 per cent of 10,000 people quizzed had enjoyed a one-night stand.

It found other liaisons followed meetings at gyms (five per cent), weddings (eight per cent) and hotels (11 per cent).

Dating apps like Tinder, surprisingly, were only credited for two per cent of one-night stands – as were concerts.

The survey was carried out for Saucydates.com. Spokesman David Minns said: “We were very surprised that a trip to the shops could result in a one-night stand.

“Clubs and bars are understandable, but chance encounters on trains, buses and even at museums was a real eye-opener.

“But it is reassuring that people are still getting together in the most natural of ways and that when the chemistry is right between two people, anything can happen.”
